This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for February 07, 2009:
I have the tendency to like most anyone the biggest hang up I have is judgemental people. Those who think that skin color or sexuality or what people have done in their youth should be held against them. I would have hard time loving that kind of person it would take an extra measure of grace in me.

what do you think of those that defend dangerous criminals?

interesting thought my wife works with juveniles and has worked with adult prisoners as well and many of them are not the scary people we make them out to be they have souls as well. I think the greater question here has to be how do you overcome our attitude towards these people?
I’m a little horrified by Nightphoenix’s question… I’m English, and in my blood and bones is the conviction that everybody has the right to an educated, articulate and legally expert professional to defend them if they are accused of a crime. Otherwise, how can anybody be protected from false allegations? I am also adamant in believing that until someone has been judged guilty in a fair trial, that person is innocent, even if they have been found with a smoking gun and covered with blood at the scene of a massacre… Please read, or listen to, the wonderful Rumpole stories by the recently deceased John Mortimer.
